The wife and I have had a great deal of success on the slow-carb diet. A key component of this diet is one day a week, you take a day off and eat whatever you want, how much you want. Oh, the glory of the cheat day...

August 23, 2014 & August 28, 2014
I will admit I can't very well remember what I had on Saturday, August 23. This was the day we were going out of town to Phoenix. I do know that I had some cereal, and I think some chips and salsa, cookies, maybe ice cream. But I also know that we had lunch at Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix. We started with a salad and then had a pizza with onions, mushrooms and sausage. Good, but pricey (i.e., not worth it to Randy). Dinner that night was In-N-Out Burger with a vanilla shake for dessert. Don't know the weight change. Now, because we eventually made our way to Vegas, we knew we were going to the Wicked Spoon at the Cosmopolitan:
The morning of August 28, I had a bowl of cereal. I worked out, then had three fried eggs. Around 11, we went to the Wicked Spoon. It did not disappoint. I had so much food. Kale salad, smoked salmon, bacon, pork belly, shrimp cocktail, fruit juice shooters, bone marrow, boar & gnocchi, portabello mushrooms, risotto, and much, much more. I was initially disappointed because I didn't see quince. I asked the chef at the cold entree bar, and he said they didn't have any, but he would check. Philip came to my table in about five minutes with lots of quince on a garnished plate! My experience was complete! Well almost - there is still lots of desserts, including five small servings of different flavors of gelato. I ate so much I felt sick. And I would do it again.
Weight gain: 4.8 pounds. I consider this a success. Two cheat days in one week, plus, I did not adhere to the SCD for the entire week. At some hotels, we had hot breakfasts, and I often included biscuits or English muffins at breakfast. Also, we were pretty active - swimming at the pool for a couple of nights and a hike to the second tunnel on Bright Angel trail at the Grand Canyon. Also, I complete a 24-hour fast from Thursday to Friday.
