The wife and I have had a great deal of success on the slow-carb diet. A key component of this diet is one day a week, you take a day off and eat whatever you want, how much you want. Oh, the glory of the cheat day...

February 8, 2014
Beth's birthday is on February 9, so we celebrated her birthday early at Texas de Brazil. Knowing that we were going there, I started off the morning with my version (beans instead of oats) of the bread that will (supposedly) change your life. I also had a couple of grapefruits and an orange. For breakfast dessert (nice ring to it, btw), I had a Costco cupcake that Beth bought the other day and some (almost slow carb) chocolate chip cookies. Also had a small packet of Swedish fish. After a workout, it was protein powder blended with almond milk.
TdeB is always a feast. Bacon, grilled provolone, prosciutto, olives, salmon, peppers, lobster bisque, lots of very rich foods, lots of meat (flank steak with crusted salt is my favorite). Because we went for brunch, they had a huge fruit salad and dessert. I got a Creme Brulee (oddly, it had a bitter taste). Beth got this pie with coconut and ice cream - her dessert was much better than mine. Whatever the case, I had a lot of beef, but I made sure to balance it out somewhat with veggies and fruit.
Remember those cupcakes? Beth got a dozen. Six are in the future. Later on in the day I had a red velvet cupcake. And then a couple of glasses of Riesling (my favorite wine).
Weight gain: 6.2 pounds. Even I believe that this was too much. I'll attribute it to muscle gain (but to be on the safe side, no TdeB for a good long time).
