January 11, 2014

This goes to show that it's not volume, it really is calories and carbs.

Trying something different, I started off the day with some soup that I made a couple of weeks ago. It's Dr. Furhman's anti-cancer soup. It was okay, but be forewarned, if you don't like kale, you won't like this soup. The next time I make it, kale will be absent or I will use much less.

The night before, we checked out the cheap, packaged fruit at the grocery store. I got four ruby red grapefruits for a buck and a bunch of limes for fifty cents. So after soup, I had two of the grapefruit and a couple of limes. Even though I was kind of full, this is cheat day, so I had some red velvet cookies and some candy bars. After a workout, I had a protein smoothie.

For lunch, we went to Nora, a Lebanese restaurant down the road. They always bring a small platter of yogurt, pita chips and olives. We had falafel for an appetizer. I forgot to take a picture, but for my entree, I got the mixed grill with grilled vegetables instead of rice (I think this is key). Meat included chicken and beef, as well as kafta, which is a mixture of ground beef and seasonings. Tahini sauce and garlic sauce are included; this meal was awesome. It was also a lot of food.

Sometime after I got home, I had a couple of 'fun size' Hershey's cookies and cream candy bars. These things are awesome.

A few hours after that, I had another grapefruit. After that, I had some of Beth's black bean cake (this was something of an experiment; I'm sure she'll improve upon this). Anyway, I had a big bowl of ice cream.

Weight gain: 2.0 pounds (That's right! Just TWO POUNDS WITH ALL THAT FOOD!!!)
