The wife and I have had a great deal of success on the slow-carb diet. A key component of this diet is one day a week, you take a day off and eat whatever you want, how much you want. Oh, the glory of the cheat day...

April 19, 2014
Because we hadn't been in a while, we decided today was Chinese buffet day. Started off healthy with a kale/carrot/walnut/pomegranate salad, followed by some pineapple. Morning dessert was the last carrot cake cupcake.
At the buffet, it was typical Chinese buffet fare: spring rolls, chicken teriyaki, tempura vegetables, other types of chicken. But I was sure to include some vegetables, as well as some pineapple, jicama, and olives. Had some ice cream and a couple of sesame/red bean paste balls for dessert.
Even dessert included nuts, (whole wheat if that makes them healthier) fig newtons, cookies and candy bars, followed by two slices of key lime pie.
Weight gain: Four pounds. Less than what I feared. Positive takeaway - this put me at 177. We're cruising next week, and the day before we fly, I'm at 171, so maybe I have some room for the cruise.
